Good Morning, Fam'!
On this day, September 29, 1975, WGPR-TV in Detroit signed on the air as the first fully Black owned and operated television station in the United States. Think about how big that was. In an era when the images of Black people on TV were controlled entirely by others, a group of Black folks in Detroit built their own station, their own newsroom, their own programming. WGPR became a training ground that launched the careers of countless Black broadcast professionals who could not get a foot in the door anywhere else. They did not beg the networks for a seat. They built their own channel and put our people on it. That is the blueprint.
Here is why that history is on my heart today. For most of our lives, owning a channel was nearly impossible. A TV station cost millions in equipment, licenses, and staff. Even a small radio show had real barriers. So the stories told about us stayed in other people's hands, and the wealth that media generates flowed away from us. WGPR proved we could own it, but only a few could afford to. That is what has finally changed. The cost of owning a channel has collapsed to nearly zero.
And look at who is living this blueprint right now. Roland Martin Unfiltered built a daily digital news show that speaks directly to us, independent of any legacy network. Joy Reid launched The Joy Reid Show on her own after leaving cable. Don Lemon took his voice straight to his own channel. And whole platforms like the Black Star Network exist to carry our news, our way, on our terms. These are not fringe experiments, they are proof that owning your channel is the winning play in this era. When the big networks would not give the full story, our people built their own newsrooms and took their audiences with them. That is WGPR's legacy, alive and thriving in 2026.
Here is the part for you. Those are big names, but the same tools they use are now available to anyone with a phone, and AI has removed the last excuses. The editing, the production, the thumbnails, the consistency that used to require a whole crew can now be handled with AI, and the platforms are building in more ways than ever to get paid for it. You do not need a Roland Martin budget to start a Roland Martin style channel in your niche. A show, a podcast, a brand, a following you own, is one of the most powerful assets a person can build in this economy. WGPR built a station brick by brick so our voices could be heard. This week, let's build our own channels, the modern way, and make sure our stories, and our profits, stay in our hands.
YouTube's New AI Tools Turn Anyone Into a Studio | Made On YouTube 2026
THE SCOOP
At its Made On YouTube 2026 event, YouTube unveiled a wave of AI tools for creators: Veo 3 Fast for quickly generating video clips and effects, conversational editing that lets you edit by simply describing what you want, and AI powered tools to help you produce, grow, and get discovered. It also expanded ways to earn, including brand deal matching and YouTube Shopping, where more than 1.3 million creators already participate and merchandise sales have grown many times over. With over 20 million videos uploaded daily, the tools are built to help creators stand out and cash in.
THE VIBE CHECK
WGPR needed a building full of equipment and staff to run a channel. You need a phone and a point of view. The production barrier that kept our voices small is gone, and the platforms are paying creators more ways than ever. The lesson is not just to make content, it is to own a channel and build an audience you control, because an audience is an asset that pays for years. Pick your lane, start your channel, and let AI handle the heavy production. Our stories, on our terms, earning for us. That is the WGPR spirit for a new era.
Three channels you can build and own with AI. Each is a modern version of what WGPR pioneered, your voice, your platform, your revenue.
CHANNEL 1 | THE NICHE AUTHORITY SHOW
The community need: our community craves trusted voices on specific topics, money, health, faith, local life, that speak to us directly. The play: build a channel or podcast where you become the go to voice on one niche, using AI to produce consistently. Authority in a niche turns into sponsorships, products, and real income.
CHANNEL 2 | THE LOCAL MEDIA BRAND
The community need: local Black communities are underserved by media that actually covers them. The play: build a channel covering your city's Black businesses, events, and stories, the modern WGPR for your area, using AI to produce at a scale one person never could, and monetize through local sponsors.
CHANNEL 3 | THE FACELESS CONTENT CHANNEL
The community need: not everyone wants to be on camera, but everyone can own media. The play: build a channel where AI generates the visuals and voice, on a topic you know, so you own a growing content asset without ever showing your face. Ownership without the spotlight.
MEGA PROMPT | LAUNCH YOUR CHANNEL
WHAT I KNOW AND CARE ABOUT: [YOUR TOPIC, YOUR AUDIENCE, AND WHETHER YOU WANT TO BE ON CAMERA]
1. THE CONCEPT: Help me define a clear, ownable channel concept and the specific audience it serves.
2. THE PLATFORM: Recommend the best platform to start on and the content format that fits my life.
3. THE AI PRODUCTION: Show me how to use AI tools to produce my content consistently without a big crew or budget.
4. THE FIRST 10 POSTS: Give me 10 specific content ideas with hooks to launch my channel.
5. THE MONEY MAP: Lay out how this channel makes money as it grows, from sponsors to products to services."
STRATEGY 1 | THE CONSISTENCY ENGINE
Channels grow on consistency, and consistency is where most people quit. Use AI to batch produce a month of content in one sitting so you never go dark. Build the videos fast with InVideo AI. The creator who shows up every week beats the more talented one who posts twice and disappears.
STRATEGY 2 | THE SIGNATURE VOICE AND SOUND
Give your channel a recognizable audio identity, a consistent narration voice and intro. Create it with ElevenLabs. A channel people recognize by sound alone is a channel building real brand equity, the kind that turns viewers into a loyal community.
AFFILIATE SPOTLIGHT
InVideo AI: Produce a month of channel content in one sitting, in under 30 minutes per video. Own your channel, feed it consistently, and grow.

The Content Operations Manager | Run the Channel Behind the Star
Every creator and brand building a channel needs someone to run the machine, the scheduling, the editing, the publishing, the analytics. That role, the content operations manager, is in high demand, and AI lets one person run production for several creators at once. You do not have to be the face. You can be the operator who keeps the channels running and gets paid well for it. Busy creators and businesses will happily hand off the grind to someone dependable who understands the tools. If you are organized and like media, this is a stable, growing lane in the creator economy.
MY BACKGROUND: [DESCRIBE HOW ORGANIZED YOU ARE, ANY MEDIA OR ADMIN EXPERIENCE, AND YOUR COMFORT WITH TECHNOLOGY]
1. THE SERVICE: Explain exactly what I would manage for a creator or brand, and how AI lets me handle more of it.
2. THE CLIENTS: Identify who needs this help and would pay for it.
3. THE PACKAGES: Suggest service packages and pricing to start.
4. THE FIRST CLIENTS: Give me a 30 day plan to land my first paying client."
The Content Engine | A Month of Posts From One Sitting
The reason most channels die is that making content one piece at a time is exhausting. This prompt turns one idea session into a full month of planned, hook driven content, so you stay consistent without burning out.
MY CHANNEL: [YOUR TOPIC, YOUR AUDIENCE, AND YOUR PLATFORM]
1. THE PILLARS: Give me 4 content themes I can rotate that keep my channel focused and build authority.
2. THE MONTH: Lay out 20 specific content ideas across those themes, each with a scroll stopping hook.
3. THE BATCH PLAN: Show me how to produce all of this efficiently using AI tools, in as few sittings as possible.
4. THE REPURPOSE: For each piece, tell me how to cut it into shorts or clips for other platforms so one idea works everywhere.
5. THE HOOKS: Sharpen my 5 strongest ideas into headlines people cannot scroll past."
High Value Skill: Storytelling for the Camera 🎥
AI can produce the video, but it cannot supply the story. The skill that makes a channel grow is the ability to hook attention in the first three seconds and hold it, to make a point land and make people feel something. This is a learnable craft, structure, pacing, and knowing what to cut. Our community has always been the best storytellers in the room. Sharpen that gift for the camera and you have the one thing every algorithm rewards and no tool can fake. Master storytelling and your channel does not just exist, it grows.
This Week's Challenge: Script and post one 60 second story using the prompt below. Focus on the hook and the payoff.
MY STORY OR TOPIC: [WHAT YOU WANT TO SAY OR SHARE]
MY AUDIENCE: [WHO IT IS FOR]
1. THE HOOK: Give me 3 opening lines that would stop someone from scrolling in the first 3 seconds.
2. THE STRUCTURE: Lay out a simple 60 second structure that builds to a satisfying payoff.
3. THE SCRIPT: Write the full short script in my natural, conversational voice.
4. THE DELIVERY: Give me quick tips on how to deliver it so it feels real, not stiff."
SartorialAI: An audience is only an asset when it turns into revenue. SartorialAI captures the leads your channel drives, follows up, and books customers around the clock. Drop in your URL, free to start. Sign up free.
